Longings The Canon
Print
Like beautiful dead bodies that had not grown old
and were concealed, with tears, in splendid sepulchres, —
with roses at the head and jasmine at the feet:
so seem the longings that are spent and did not meet
fulfilment, that never by Delight were aureoled
with even one starlit night, one lustrous morn of hers.
